Want to get to know some of the most active HVWIB members?

HVWIB is a volunteer-led and run organization. We are always looking for members to volunteer their time and skills to support our collective mission. We currently have four committees:

Events Committee

Help us plan our calendar of diverse and impactful events, online and across the Hudson Valley. This includes, and is not limited to:

  • Identifying and securing speakers

  • Finding and liaising with local venues, caterers, and vendors

  • Sourcing sponsors, goodie bag and raffle donations

  • Drafting and creating marketing materials, programs, and other communications and designed items

  • Staffing our events, helping with check-in, clean-up — and everything in between!

Sponsorship Committee

Help us secure corporate sponsorships to underwrite our ongoing operations and special programming. This includes, and is not limited to:

  • Identifying and pitching sponsorship opportunities to local and regional businesses

  • Drafting custom sponsorship packages

  • Working with Events Committee volunteers on coordinating event-specific sponsor outreach, engagement, and stewardship

  • Communicating with sponsors about payments, benefits, logo placements, etc.

  • Liaising with secured sponsors at events

Membership Committee

Help us recruit new members and support our existing Friends, Members, Partners and Leaders! This includes but is not limited to:

  • Planning, drafting, designing, and marketing two membership drives per year

  • Identifying potential new individual and corporate members

  • Welcoming new members as they join and at events

  • Reviewing membership benefits and current benefit usage

  • Recommending Invested Members to Events Committee to be considered for future speaking opportunities

Marketing Committee

Help us elevate the HVWIB brand through strategic partnerships, public relations, media placement, and other marketing strategies. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Reviewing the HVWIB website, communications, and social media regularly to assure we are “on brand” in our messaging

  • Identifying other Hudson Valley organizations with which we might want to partner and negotiating potential partnerships

  • Developing and managing a public relations strategy for HVWIB at large and for specific large-scale events

  • Liaising with targeted Hudson Valley media and advertising teams regarding paid advertising opportunities

  • Representing HVWIB at other Hudson Valley events to drive awareness

Looking ahead to 2027, we would like to establish a separate Fundraising Committee, and welcome volunteers to join us!

Fundraising Committee

Help us raise funds from individuals and institutions that support HVWIB’s mission. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Identifying potential foundations and individuals for funding

  • Drafting and customizing grant proposals to potential funders

  • Liaising with foundation staff and individuals through the gift-making process

  • Communicating with donors about payments, recognition, reporting, etc.

  • Welcoming donors at events
